Nation-wide modern slavery helplines

Unseen Modern Slavery Helpline – Helpline providing information, advice and guidance about modern slavery to potential victim-survivors, the public, agencies and businesses. Call 08000 121 700 24/7.

National Centre for Domestic Violence – Provides advice and support to victim-survivors of domestic abuse. Call 08009702070, text NCDV to 60777 or email office@ncdv.org.uk 24/7.
[Women and girls] Refuge – Supports women and girls impacted by domestic abuse. Call 08082000247 or use their online chat function 24/7
NSPCC – Provides advice for callers concerned about potential abuse of a child. Call 0808 800 5000 or email help@nspcc.org.uk 24/7.
Karma Nirvana – Provides support for victim-survivors of honour-based abuse, including forced marriage. Call 08005999247, Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm.
NAPAC – A charity supporting adult survivors of childhood abuse. Call 0808 801 0331​ Monday – Thursday 10am-9pm, and Friday 10am-6pm.
Victim Support – Provides emotional and practical support for victims of crime, including exploitation and abuse. Call their Supportline on 08081689111 or use their live chat 24/7.

National support

Salvation Army – The Salvation Army manages the UK’s contract for supporting survivors of modern slavery (Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract or MSVCC). Call 0800 808 3733  24/7 or email mstreferrals@salvationarmy.org.uk
Hope for Justice – A modern slavery charity providing legal advice and advocacy to survivors of modern slavery.
Migrant Help – Provides support to victim-survivors including translation services, safe accommodation, emotional and practical help, and some forms of advocacy. Email referrals nrm@migranthelpuk.org for referrals.
Medaille Trust – Provides support to victim-survivors safe housing under the MSVCC. Advice is provided to Albanian victim-survivors interested in voluntary returns.
Causeway – Offers accommodation and outreach support to victim-survivors in the UK. Their LifeSupply service offers essential items including bedding, clothing, toiletries, phones and personal care items to help people live independently.
SPACE – Offers advice to parents of child victim-survivors of criminal exploitation in the UK.
Changing Lives – A charity providing support with accommodation, rehabilitation and advice to anyone facing disadvantage such as exploitation, addiction, or homelessness.

[Northern Ireland] Flourish NI – Provides support, advice, activities, safe housing and emotional support to victim-survivors of human trafficking in Northern Ireland
[West Midlands] Black Country Women’s Aid – Bromwich-based charity providing safe housing and case work for victim-survivors of modern slavery.
[South Yorkshire] Snowdrop Project – Sheffield-based modern slavery charity supporting victim-survivors through advocacy, housing support, mental health services, and safe housing.
[Children in England and Wales] National Counter Trafficking Centre (Barnardo’s) – Provides specialist support for children who have been trafficked in regions across England and Wales. Referrals are taken online.
[BME Women in Wales] BAWSO helpline – A helpline for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) and migrant survivors providing advocacy, crisis support, and services including safe housing. Call 08007318147 or email referrals@bawso.org.uk 24/7.

Simpson Millar – Law firm specialising in challenging failings by authorities (including the police, Home Office and local authorities). Legal aid options are available for some cases.
Birds Solicitors – Law firm providing support on extradition, asylum, advocacy, and criminalisation of victim-survivors. Legal aid available for some cases.
Southwell and Partners – Law firm specialising in modern slavery, criminal/international law, miscarriage of justice and wrongful criminalisation of victim-survivors.
Irwin Mitchell – Law firm specialising in miscarriage of justice, wrongful criminalisation of victim-survivors, and immigration / asylum. Legal aid and no win/no fee options available.
Leigh Day – A human right firm providing representation on modern slavery, immigration, data, discrimination and health issues, providing support to pursue compensation and judicial reviews.
Hope for Justice – A modern slavery charity providing legal advice to survivors of modern slavery.
ATLEU – A legal charity providing free support to victim-survivors of modern slavery, offering advice on housing, immigration and criminal justice.
Advocate – A service matchmaking pro bono lawyers to clients who need support. Please note that responses may take up to three weeks.

[Women in Scotland] Scottish Women’s Rights Centre – Provides legal advice to women and girls based in Scotland who have experiences abuse, including modern slavery and exploitation.

StreetLink – A national platform allowing you to make an ‘alert’ if you are sleeping rough and be contacted by outreach specialists.
Shelter – A housing charity providing advice and support for anyone struggling with homelessness, housing rights, eviction or other issues related to accommodation.
[London] The Passage – A charity providing emergency accommodation and meaningful support to transition from homelessness into longer-term housing.

Survivor Alliance – Training and resources for survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking to undertake research, employment, campaigns and lived experience engagement.
[Scotland + England] Code Your Future – A coding bootcamp for anyone who has experienced disadvantage, including exploitation, seeking asylum, or , based in Manchester, London, Sheffield, Glasgow, and Birmingham.
Bright Futures – A programme run by the Co-Operative and partners, matching job opportunities with candidates who have lived experience of exploitation.
Ready to Work (Salvation Army) – A programme run by the Salvation Army helping people become ‘job ready’ in 650 locations across the UK
[Women in London and Sussex] Bramber Bakehouse – Training and employment for woman survivors of abuse including trafficking and exploitation.
[Women] Sophie Hayes Foundation – An employability programme designed for women survivors, covering essential life skills, confidence-building, and education.

Employment advice

TUC trade union finder – If you need advice on the way you are being treated at work, you may want to join a union that represents your industry. The TUC runs a ‘trade union finder’ to help you.
Work Rights Centre – A charity that helps migrants and disadvantaged Britons access employment justice and improve their social mobility

Food + clothes banks

Trussell Trust – Food banks based across the country, offering food and food vouchers.
Fairshare – A charity giving away surplus food for a small fee, from popular food companies to nearly 8,000 community groups across the UK.
Your Local Pantry – Affordable food pantries across the UK, with members saving £84 a month on groceries on average for a membership of £2.50 weekly.
Reuse Network – A network providing affordable household items including furniture, electrical appliances, IT equipment and children’s goods.
Freecycle – A website where anyone can donate or collect free clothes, household goods, furniture and other items
Uniformerly – A nationwide online marketplace for parents, carers, and PTAs to sell, buy, recycle or give away school uniforms
[Women] Smart Works – Women’s employment charity providing clothing and coaching for to unemployed women and girls over 16 years old.
[England] School uniform support from local councils – You may be able to get help with school uniform costs. If you live in England, contact your local council to find out if there is support in your area.
[Midlands and North of England] Sharewear – Free-of-charge clothing choices for anyone facing economic difficulty. Access via referral or outreach service for organisations.
[Yorkshire and the Humber] The Clothing Bank – Provides delivered or collected packages of clothing for anyone in need including work attire, school uniforms, shoes, bags and underwear.
[London] Suited and Booted – A charity helping unemployed men and those on low-income access suitable interview clothing, interview advice and mentoring.
[Men in North East] Suitability -Supports men looking for work who need clothes for the interview, including a virtual fitting and tailoring.

Mental + physical health

NHS – If you are in need of urgent mental health support dial 111 and press 2 when prompted.
Helen Bamber Foundation – Provides specialised care, including therapy and medical advice, for survivors of trafficking, torture, and extreme human cruelty.
Mind – Provides online information, access to local Mind associations that provide services like therapy, advocacy, and employment schemes. Call the helpline on 0300 123 3393.
Shout – A charity providing emergency support for issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, panic attacks, loneliness, bullying or abuse. Text their messaging service for help on 85258.
Rethink Mental Illness – Provides information and advice on mental health, treatment, care, benefits, and employment rights. They also provide some advocacy, housing, and carer support. Contact their helpline on 0808 801 0525 or webchat.
Black Minds Matter – Offers free mental health support to Black individuals and families, including therapy, education, and advocacy. 
[London + Brighton] Secrets Worth Sharing – events, workshops, talks and forums for survivors of child sexual abuse and professionals looking to adopt a trauma-informed approach
[London] Traumascapes – London-based, survivor-led, trauma-focused, and trauma-sensitive creative workshops, programmes, and peer support.

Immigration

Refugee Action – Provides help and advice for people seeking asylum
British Red Cross – A charity providing services and confidential support, including casework and emergency help, for refugees and people seeking asylum from all backgrounds and religions.

ASAP – Provides free, high-quality legal representation and advice to asylum seekers and refused asylum seekers, including those appealing Home Office decisions.
Praxis – Runs drop-in clinics, a helpline and provides resources for migrants and refugees, including on the law, healthcare, and other important issues.
JCWI – A legal charity offering support with applications to the Home Office, entry clearance, appeals and judicial review for people on the move.

Maternity Action – Provides advice, including on entitlements, benefits, healthcare, employment and immigration, during pregnancy and childbirth.
Birthrights – Provides legal advice and information on your rights during pregnancy and child birth.
Birth Champions -Provides emotional and practical support to women in prison and the community, including advice on maternity care and criminal justice.
Baby Basics – Network of baby banks across the UK, providing essentials for children aged up to five years old.
